Authentic relating workshops in Melbourne

Fundamentals of Authentic Relating

Fundamentals of Authentic Relating is a workshop series providing an overview of Authentic Relating (AR) held every 3rd Saturday morning (10:00 – 12:30) in Brunswick East (Melbourne). The event is hosted by Mysore Melbourne Ashtanga yoga.

Authentic Relating is a practice and a set of tools that fosters deeper connection.

It invites us to show up with presence, awareness, and skillful honesty in every aspect of life (romantic, friends, family, work etc).

It tends to be beneficial for people who want to:

  • Have more interesting and meaningful conversations
People who want to move on from the chitchat and talk about what really matters
  • Open up and (re)connect with emotions
People who didn’t have access to an environment or the tools to know and express how they feel
  • Drop into deeper presence
People who already have a mindfulness or spiritual practice (meditation, yoga etc) and want to experience a different angle

People practising AR, even for the first time, usually report:
– Greater self awareness and emotional clarity
– Deeper sense of connection to self and to others
– Clearer communication and more fluency in navigating conversations, including situations of conflicts and repairs

It’s for people who want to bring more awareness, honesty, and connection into their relationships.

No prior knowledge of Authentic Relating is required.
Anyone curious about personal growth, wanting more ease and connection in their interactions, interested in improving their relational skills, or wishing to gain an understanding of AR tools is welcome!

You just need to come with an open mind and have an interest in having fulfilling relationships with others, working on your emotional intelligence, or learning how to communicate more effectively.

The workshop typically attracts between 10 and 20 participants.

It is mostly experiential and we cycle between:
Short teaching segments (2-5 minutes)
Structured activities in rotating pairs or small groups (10 to 25 minutes) to practice a skill or an aspect of the teachings
Facilitated group reflection and integration time (10 minutes) where participants can share what they noticed or learnt

The workshop is designed to balance:
– Connection
– Insight
– Fun
