Fundamentals of Authentic Relating – Listening and Responding
March 21 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am
A$30.00 – A$60.00
What is Authentic Relating?
Authentic Relating is a practice – and a set of tools – that fosters deeper connection with others. It invites us to show up with presence, awareness, and skillful honesty in every aspect of life (romantic, friends, family, work etc). It overlaps with other relational practices like Non Violent Communication and Circling.
People practising Authentic Relating, even for the first time, usually report:
- Greater self awareness and emotional clarity
- Deeper sense of connection to self and to others
- Clearer communication and more fluency in navigating conversations, including situations of conflicts and repairs
Who is this workshop for?
Anyone curious about personal growth, wanting more ease and connection in their interactions, interested in improving their relational skills, or wishing to gain a formal understanding of AR frameworks and mechanics.
No prior knowledge of Authentic Relating is required. You just need to:
- Have an interest in having fulfilling relationships with others, working on your emotional intelligence, or learning how to communicate more effectively
- Come with an open and playful mind and the understanding that this is a space to experiment together with ways of relating that may be out of the usual (i.e. expect playfulness and quirkiness)
No need to commit and come to all Fundamentals of Authentic Relating series as sessions are independent from each other.
More about what to expect…
Fundamentals of Authentic Relating (AR) is a workshop series (3rd Saturday of each month between February and June 2026) to learn and practice Authentic Relating. It’s for people who want to bring more awareness, honesty, and connection into their relationships. Sessions are themed and we’ll begin by exploring how to notice what is happening inside (Feb), followed by listening more deeply (Mar), developing curiosity (Apr), expressing oneself with clarity and courage (May), and navigating boundaries and conflict with care (June).
Feeling heard, understood and met is the foundation of fulfilling relationships. And that begins with listening.
In March, we explore what it means to be(come) the type of person who can turn ordinary conversations into moments of connection with deep listening and thoughtful responding:
- The focus of attention of a conversation: you – me – us
- When to listen and when to speak
- The Authentic Relating framework: Listen, reflect, share impact
- How to bring noticing and presence to our listening
- What to listen to: the 3 levels of listening
- How to create an empathic environment for deeper connection: listening to understand, not to fix
- How to weave our experience by sharing impact
About the Fundamentals of Authentic Relating Series
During this five part series, we’ll explore a different theme each month. Even if connected, each workshop is a stand alone experience, so come for one, come for some, or come for all!
- Noticing: mindful presence, awareness, acceptance (21st February)
- Listening and responding: listening to understand not fix, reflect back, share impacts (21st March)
- Curiosity and assumptions: beginner mindset, checking out assumptions (18th April)
- Self expression: owning our experience, sharing with vulnerability (16th May)
- Contact with others: boundaries, conflicts, and repairs (20th June)
